The Bridges Section of the Council has an interesting and challenging workload delivering the annual Capital Programme of Highway Structure Maintenance Work and are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team. 

Experienced and competent Engineers are sought who can demonstrate abilities to provide guidance, manage and lead other members of the team and provide support to the Senior Engineer. 

As a member of the Bridges Maintenance Team you will be involved in a variety of work including the Principal Inspection of Bridges and other Highway Structures, Reporting of Defects, Identification of Maintenance Requirements and the Preparation, Contract Administration and Site Supervision of Minor Maintenance Schemes. 

You will be experienced and confident in your working knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation, the Construction, Design and Management Regulations and the ADEPT Bridge Condition Indicators (BCI) reporting system. 

Applicants will be certified, or working towards certification, under the LANTRA Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme. 

The role will involve working both in the office (North Bridge Depot) and on site as part of the team. 

The post is contracted to work 37 hours per week and we offer a flexible working pattern in line with the needs of our customers. We offer generous holidays, and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
